The Inspiration of Kristina Dam Studio
We invite you to join the journey of Kristina Dam and gain insight into her sources of inspiration for her latest designs. In the following sections we will showcase her documentation from her travels from Copenhagen to Naoshima, exploring materials, forms, and spaces.
Bow Series
Bow is inspired by both graphic architectural details at the Voralberger Landesmuseum in Bregenz and furniture strapping. The way the straps fold around the bedspread and pillows, slightly protruding from the edges, draws inspiration from raw furniture upholstery, adding a touch of artisanal charm.

Column Bowl
The Column Bowl draws inspiration from classic Greek architecture and the stunning Ionic columns at Stallhof in Dresden and Christiansborg in Copenhagen. Its design creates a striking interplay of shapes, making it a visually captivating centerpiece for any table.

Rock Series
The Rock Series showcases the art of contrast in design. Inspired by the architecture of the Hiroshi Sugimoto Gallery in Naoshima and the sculptures by Isamu Noguchi at The Noguchi Museum in NYC, it highlights the beauty of art where materials meet and create something greater. The Rock vase and candleholder combine the raw, organic beauty of rugged black marble with a sleek brushed stainless-steel base.

Foldable Series
Foldable takes inspiration from classic industrial design and the iconic exhibition by Yayoi Kusama at the Valley Gallery in Naoshima. The visible joints and bolts in the Foldable Series are inspired by a public bridge at Amager Strandpark in Copenhagen, near Kristina Dam's home.
